Dear Friend:

Public Forums
Over the past several weeks I had the pleasure of participating in five public candidate forums.  These were all great opportunities to answer formal questions and mingle with attendees to answer questions after the panels concluded.  Several panels included audience participation questions as well.

Below are the links to three of the forums in their entirety. Unfortunately, the other two were not live-streamed. I encourage anyone who would like to learn more about my position on the issues or compare them to those of my opponent to watch the forums.
Advance Voting
Counties began mailing out advance ballots on October 17th. If you’d like to vote by mail, you can still do so by filling out the application and mailing it back to the Johnson County Election Office.

Advance voting in person starts tomorrow, October 22nd. There are a lot of places to advance vote in Johnson County! The locations closest to our district are:
Johnson County Northeast Offices
6000 Lamar, Mission

Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center
8788 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park

Offices are open M-F 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. & Closed Nov. 5th.
Mainstream Coalition Stand Up Speak Out Dinner
It was an honor to attend the Mainstream Coalition's 25th Anniversary Stand Up Speak Out dinner featuring CNN's Van Jones. It was great to catch up with retired KCK Superintendent Cindy Lane. Thank you, Cindy, for your service to our communities and for being a vocal supporter for what's best for our public schools!
Thanks to the Kansas Association for Teacher Education for honoring me with their 2018 Advocacy Award for "sustained advocacy and outstanding leadership for public education."
Get Involved
There are just a few weeks left to reach voters before election day. Help me spread the word about my campaign and record of service!
  • Host a yard sign. Email me and we will deliver a sign to your house and pick it up once the election is over.
  • Knock on doors.  The single most effective way to connect with voters is on their doorstep.  Join me in knocking doors.
  • Make calls. Visit with voters in the 25th about your support for me and encourage them to get out and vote.
  • Write Post Cards. A personal note to your friends or neighbors in the 25th is a great way to show your support and encourage others to vote.
  • Make a donation. Please consider a donation to my campaign. To donate online, visit melissarooker.com or you are welcome to send checks to: Melissa Rooker for State Representative, 4124 Brookridge Drive, Fairway KS 66205.
Check the Facts
My opponent and his allies are running a smear campaign against me. Instead of talking about the issues that matter most to our community, like education, infrastructure and financial stability -- they are playing politics, misrepresenting my record and attacking my character.

When politicians are losing on the issues, the resort to misleading smear campaigns.  Break through the noise, rumors and misinformation by checking out the fact checker on my website.  If you still have questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me via phone or email. (913-961-1555 or melissa@melissarooker.com)  I'm always happy to discuss the issues with you!

I know your mail boxes are filling up with political mail, but I want to remind you, materials distributed by my campaign will be clearly marked: “Paid for by Melissa Rooker for State Representative, Sheila Davis, Treasurer.” Please contact me if you see anything that raises questions. I am always happy to have a respectful conversation about my record of service.

Thank you for the honor and privilege of representing you. I ask for your vote in advance or on Tuesday, November 6
th!
Sincerely,

Rep. Melissa Rooker
